You Are Made of Stardust Older Than the Sun 🌌

The atoms in your body are billions of years old—older than the Sun itself. Discover how you carry the legacy of ancient stars within you.

🌌 You Are Made of Stardust Older Than the Sun

Every atom in your body — from the iron in your blood to the calcium in your bones — was forged billions of years ago in the fiery cores of massive stars that exploded as supernovae. When those stars died, they scattered their elements across the cosmos. 🌠

Later, clouds of gas and stardust (filled with those ancient atoms) clumped together to form our Sun, Earth, and eventually, you. That means you’re literally made of star dust that’s older than the solar system itself.

Scientists estimate that the carbon, oxygen, and nitrogen atoms inside us are 7 to 13 billion years old, while the Sun is just 4.6 billion years old. In a way, your body carries the memory of stars that no longer exist. 🤯
